Second Brain

## The memory that *remembers for you*.

Good research thinking happens in conversation, and most of it is lost the moment you close the tab. Second Brain keeps it: after each chat with Alfred, the durable learnings become connected notes, filed for you and ready to inform the next answer.

How it works

### How Second Brain works

You do the thinking. Alfred keeps the record.

1. **You talk through your work** Ask Alfred about your papers the way you already do: work out a method, weigh two findings, decide a direction. Nothing extra to click, no separate note-taking step to remember.
2. **Alfred keeps the durable parts** When a conversation ends, Alfred writes down what is worth keeping, the research directions, decisions, preferences, and conclusions, and files each note into a folder so nothing needs sorting by hand.
3. **The next answer remembers** Your notes feed future conversations, so Alfred picks up where you left off instead of starting cold. The context you built once stays with you across every session.

What you get

### A memory you can trust

#### The notes are yours

Browse, rename, edit, move, or delete any note. Once you change a note, Alfred never overwrites your words. Automatic capture gets you a first draft; the final say is always yours.

#### Everything is connected

Notes link to each other with wikilinks, and every note shows its backlinks, so a decision made in one place surfaces wherever it matters. Your thinking becomes a map, not a pile.

#### Traceable to the source

Every note traces back to the conversations that produced it. You can always follow a claim to where it came from, the same way answers in Ask Alfred cite the page.

#### Filed for you

New notes are sorted into folders automatically, so your memory stays organized without a weekly tidy-up. Move anything you want; the default is a workspace that files itself.

#### Alfred remembers

Because your notes feed new conversations, Alfred carries your context forward: the direction of the thesis, the method you settled on, the papers you trust. Less re-explaining, more thinking.

#### Pause it any time

Second Brain runs quietly in the background, and you can pause capture whenever you want a conversation left off the record. Turn it back on and the notes resume.

"Capture is automatic. Once you edit a note, your words stay your words."
